We spent years as national spellers studying the dictionary and here’s what we learned: memorization does not work. Instead of memorizing the spellings of words, we put them in context, learned about sound patterns, etymologies of the word, and observed trends in HOW language works. Meet the team that brings Angle to life. Combined, we've had 7 appearances at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. When we're not busy making spelling bee puns (83 a day to be exact), we're focused on making your education accessible.
Shreyas Parab
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Shreyas Parab is currently a student at Stanford University. He started two companies, leading one to $75k in annual sales while becoming one of the youngest suppliers to Walmart, and the other to an acquisition. He recently worked on the team acquiring Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com. He was a former speller in the 2013 and 2014 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Sriram Hathwar
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Sriram Hathwar or “Rami Laoshi” is a student at Princeton University. He won the Scripps National Spelling Bee in 2014 and coached his brother to victory in 2016. He also helped Dean Zhang found the Spelling Bee of China in 2015 and has enjoyed teaching Chinese elementary and middle school students for the last 5 years about the English language.
Ryan Brott
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Ryan Brott is a student at Princeton University. He's built technical skills as the programmer of a FIRST Robotics team and as a summer intern. He established and taught an AP Computer Science A course at his high school for two years with 35+ students in each class. He's excited to put his experience to use and build a top-notch spelling and English-learning platform.
